Reelfoot Lake Trip

In 1811-1812 a series of earthquakes caused the Mississippi River to flow backwards forming Reelfoot Lake.  Reelfoot Lake is a flooded forest.  Cypress trees rise above the water and the knees are below water creating an ecosystem not found any place else in Tennessee.

Friday our drive up to Reelfoot takes us to Paris Winery for a taste of Tennessee wine.  A beautiful winery with one of the only Eiffel Towers I’ve seen in Tennessee.  We will also visit the Park Center to see the Eagle Exhibit.  On Saturday we will take the Deep Swamp Canoe Float, a canoe tour of the lake lead by a park naturalist.  We can also relax at our cabin overlooking the lake or hike one of the lake trails close by.  This trip is rated easy.

A detail schedule will be sent to registrants.  For questions email wildernessfoxes@yahoo.com.
