Cumberland Mountain

During the Cumberland Mountain weekend, we will stay in a rustic cabin with a big fireplace to take the chill off the fall air.  The park is located on Byrd Lake.

 

Hiking on the Cumberland Trail to overlooks considered to be the best view of the Cumberland Plateau and the Tennessee Ridge and Valley system.  We will overlook a National Natural Landmark, Grassy Cove and stroll through the beautiful fall foliage of chestnut oaks, maples and black gum trees.

 

The Stinging Fork Falls Trail is a 3 miles hike and allows us to pass through a managed tree plantation to Indian Head Point for a scenic overlook of Stinging Fork Gorge.  We’ll also see the 35 foot Stinging Fork Falls on this beautiful, fall hike. 

 

This trip is rated easy.  Bring your camera because the entire trip will be full of photo opportunities.
